A taxi driver not greeting a customer is not acceptable. I have not heard about it before. The following are not that uncommon in Boston, however. 1) Traffic jam. This is a common problem. The very costly Big Dig tunnel helps a little, but not a lot. 2) Crazy drivers. Boston's drivers are legendarily aggressive. A car chase scene in a movie - that could be how an out-of-towner will feel. 3) Taxi driver not unloading the luggage. If the destination is a hotel, I think the hotel bell boys will take over. Whoever takes the luggage out gets the tip, about two dollars per bag. That could be why the taxi guy couldn't do that even if he wanted to. Hope Boston gives you a better impression next time. |
